5 best superfoods to give you energy

Drinking coffee is one of the most popular ways to get an energy boost when you are in need of a little extra energy, however, there are 5 other alternatives that are much more healthy and lasts longer than coffee. It is up to you whether you would like an energy spike or a slow but steady stream of energy. Here are some of the 5 best super foods that would make great alternatives to coffee and sugary candy bars.

  1. Almonds: Aside from boosting energy, almonds can help lower blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol levels, and reduce blood pressure. They also contain numerous healthy fats, such as vitamin E, magnesium, protein, and fiber. This snack is extremely easy to pack inside a Ziploc bag and bring with you to work or wherever you need that energy boost.

  2. Greek Yogurt: Compared to regular yogurt, Greek yogurt has half the lactose and fewer calories. What it does have more of is protein. In fact, it has almost twice the protein as regular yogurt, which is an excellent way to boost and maintain energy.

  3. Popcorn: Before you get all excited, unbuttered popcorn is what you want to aim for. Unfortunately, the more butter there is, the more calories there are, so plain popcorn is ideal. Aside from fewer calories, popcorn is absolutely packed with antioxidants. In fact, plain popcorn is considered one of the top energy-boosting snacks for children.

  4. Leafy Greens: If you need an energy boost because you stayed up all night studying

for a test, leafy greens are the best choice for you. They are packed with iron, which is known to help blood circulation. This improves concentration and makes you feel more alert. The next time you need energy for a test, you’ll definitely be prepared with leafy vegetables such as spinach.

  1. Chocolate: If you are really having a difficult time with these healthy options when the coffee is just calling over to you, then luckily for you, chocolate is also one of the best super foods to give you energy. But similar to popcorn, it is only the healthy version of chocolate that will work best, this is dark chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the better the effect on you. The effects it may have on you include lower blood pressure, a lower risk of heart disease, and increased antioxidants.
