Basic guide to Superfoods.

There’s a huge movement of eating healthier and more natural at the moment and we are completely on board with it. So here’s a little handy guide to Superfoods and what they can do for you on your journey towards better health.

Berries

First on our guide are berries. These little sweet or sour munchies are a superfood because they are packed with antioxidants. Açai berries, from South America, are the most popular of these berries. This may not be that easy to find or they can be pricey. But other berries are good too.

Nuts

Another snack sized Superfood that are easy to find and won’t break the bank are nuts. They are good for the heart, fill with fibre and protein, contain unsaturated healthy fats, and other nutrients. Limit your daily intake of nuts to 33 grams.

Seeds

Seeds are also part of the Superfood group but they can often be forgotten. They have very similar health benefits as Nuts. Chia seeds, Flax seeds, Sunflower seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Sesame seeds, and more.

Fruits

We all know about fruits and how healthy they are so it’s no surprise that they’re on this list. But we need to look beyond our normal apples and bananas. They are good but there are Superfruits out there that you may not have ever heard about. Dragon Fruit is one of those that you need to try.

Vegetables

Obviously any Superfood list should include vegetables. Kale has really been making the rounds, but there are other super veggies waiting to give us a super boost. Add some Watercress, Collard Greens, Beets, and or Daikon Radish to your vegetable vocabulary. Of course, there’s a lot of other greens, reds, and roots to try out.

That’s it for our little list of Superfoods. We hope that they help you out as you work on eating healthier. Go try out some of the food we’ve talked about. Don’t forget that there’s a lot of other Superfood to sample and include in your diet.
