Eye Glasses or Contacts? Which one should you use

Nobody likes hearing that they are going to need corrective lenses in order to see better but this is a fact of life. Luckily, we have products like glasses and contacts that we can use to function better throughout our daily lives. Corrective eye surgery is available but is still not widely used by many people. Weighing the options of eye glasses or contacts can be a beneficial decision as both of these items have their pros and cons. Let’s take a look at eye glasses versus contacts to help you better choose which option you would like.

Eye Glasses

Glasses are convenient especially if you do not need to wear corrective lenses all the time. Some people need them for reading while other people need them for distance. Either way, glasses can quickly be taken on or off and set down if need be. There are also tons of options available that can help you create a certain look or style. If you want something more conservative, there are glasses for that and if you want to make a statement and be bold with your choice, you have that option as well.

Glasses require just a simple eye appointment to determine what prescription would work best. Contact appointments are a bit more involved and you have to see your doctor much more regularly to ensure that you are not developing any kind of issues or reactions to your contacts.

Contacts are convenient in a number of circumstances. For younger athletes, contacts provides them with better vision, but without the need for wearing something on your face. If you want to wear sunglasses that are non-prescription, you can still do so with contacts and if you are participating in a special event like a wedding, you probably would prefer to be glasses free.

The only downside with contacts is that you have to be very careful with their use. The eye is a very sensitive part of the body and if you are not careful, you can easily develop an infection or scratch on your eye. It can take some time to heal something like this and in the meantime, you should not be wearing contacts.

There are benefits associated with eye glasses and contacts. Glasses tend to be preferred by many people as they are just more comfortable and easy to use. You can also switch up your style of eyewear whenever you want, which many people greatly prefer. If you are unsure of which option you would like to choose, you can head over to your local eye doctor to have an appointment and browse your choices.
