Your kids are at the age when their creativity and energy are eagerly waiting to be nurtured. How can we, as parents, help develop both of these while the time is right? Below is a list of after school activities that might be just right for your kids.
Activities
Arts and Crafts classes: Hands-on activities help to stimulate your child’s mind. General crafts for kids can range from making paper plate tambourines all the way to pom-pom caterpillars. However, if your child is interested in pursuing a more specialized
art form, there are also basic sketching, painting, origami, and sculpting lessons.
Music lessons: Engaging your child in musical training at this age is the perfect time to start. The most popular instruments with music lessons available almost anywhere include piano, guitar, violin, drums, and flute. Energy
Sports: Athletic training in team sports can help build your child’s stamina, coordination, and cooperation skills. Some sports include volleyball, football, basketball, tennis, and badminton.
Martial arts: This is the kind of activity many kids would want to get into after watching movies like Kung Fu Panda or Karate Kid. It’s an excellent way to stay fit while also being prepared for any worst case scenario! Karate and Taekwondo are good starters for active defense and exercise, while martial arts such as Tai Chi focus more on gentleness and relaxation.
The best way to narrow down your activities is to talk with your child, find budget-friendly lessons, and most importantly, have fun!
Piano lessons for my boy. Let’s just say there are good days and bad days.
I feel you. My daughter is learning how to play violin. The learning sounds are quite painful. But it’ll be great when she gets the hang of it.
Have fun and if you can maybe join your kids. 🙂
